Pseudoexfoliation Syndrome (PXF)

Pseudoexfoliation syndrome (PXF) is when small clumps of protein fibers peel off from the lens inside your eye. This material floats throughout the entire body, but it is only known to cause problems if it builds up in the eye. This can lead to glaucoma and loss of vision.

If you have PXF, you need to see your ophthalmologist at least once per year. They will look for signs of glaucoma. PXF causes glaucoma in about 4 out of 10 people who have it. Glaucoma can be treated with eye drops, laser, or surgery.

If you have any questions about your vision, speak with your ophthalmologist. They are committed to protecting your sight.
